We decry Monday's terrorist attacks, but urge sanity. We must make clear that the US
should no longer target civilians, or accept any policy which targets civilians by any nation.
We support an intensive investigation and urge cooperation by all states and NGOs to assist
in helping determine who was behind these attacks. We urge the creation of an international
court to try crimes against humanity. Once sufficient evidence is found to implicate specific
individuals, we urge it to be provided to the apropriate country so that the person(s) involved
may be arrested and extradicted to such an international court (or US court) for trial. If a
conviction results those responsible should be incarcerated for life without parole.
We should not allow these attacks to be excuses for chipping away at our rights. We can
even quote George Bush in this regard:
The only way our freedom and way of life came under attack is by making it more
likely that the government will take steps to violate our freedoms and way of life.
If the government takes such steps, that means that we are allowing the terrorist
acts to succeed.
If the government proposes any restriction on First Amendment rights, that is
continued chipping away at the foundation (the Constitution and Bill of Rights)
of the USA.

Dear Rep. Doggett:
Please respond to the "Dear Colleague" letter your office has just
received from Rep. John Lewis by co-sponsoring or otherwise actively
supporting the Religious Freedom Peace Tax Fund bill. The bill will be
introduced soon and referred to your House Committee on Ways and Means.
As you know, the RFPTF would provide urgently needed relief to thousands
of citizens who cannot in good conscience for religious or ethical
reasons pay some or all of their federal income taxes, almost 50% of
which go for current military operations and past wars.
Thank you for your attention. Please keep me informed of your actions on
this issue.
Sincerely,
