The Texas Fair Trade Coalition (TFTC) is a diverse, nonpartisan, coalition of unions, environmental advocacy groups, consumer groups, family farmers, religious organizations, women's advocacy groups, low-income and immigrant advocacy groups, professors, students, public interest and fair trade groups. TFTC promotes democratic control over fiscal and social policies, social justice, workers' rights and livable wages, and sustainable development in trade policy.
TFTC has worked the past 18 months on Fast Track in 17 congressional districts. TFTC is how in the process of formalizing its organization by hiring a second staff person, moving into new offices, and after planning a Founding Convention for July 22nd that is a followup on the May 17th Founding Committee meeting which inlcuded rep's from the Texas Farmers Union, Texas AFL-CIO, and Texas Sierra Club and many other organizations.
The Juvenile Justice Center's Staff Attorney takes the lead in coordinating activities around the abolition of the juvenile death penalty through the Juvenile Death Penalty Initiative's training and technical assistance activities; devotes time to planning, designing, and implementing the annual Juvenile Defender Leadership Summit; updates and manages the Juvenile Justice Center's web site and over 20 listservs; assists with legal analysis, research, and writing; write summaries for the listservs, the web, newsletters, fact sheets etc.; monitors state and federal juvenile justice legislation; provides additional technical assistance and networking to juvenile defenders in the field; assists with juvenile justice committee activities; and perform other duties as assigned.
Candidate must possess excellent writing, research, computer, verbal, interpersonal and organizational skills. Availability to travel is a must. Excellent word processing and computer skills required. J.D. or comparable experience with significant understanding of juvenile justice is essential.
